What is QT?

QT, Quiet Time means quiet time (or devotional time), which is the period of time we spend alone with God every day. Quiet time is helpful for our spiritual growth, because we deliberately separate a period of time and a quiet place to meet with God alone, harvest daily spiritual food through reading and meditation on scriptures, listen to God through God’s words, and Apply what we have learned to life.

Why have quiet time?

Many people who practice spiritually on time every day tell us that their spiritual lives have been greatly enriched. They said to spend a few minutes each day fully focusing on God bringing more peace, patience, and joy to them. If you want to understand a person more deeply, you will spend more time on him. It's the same with God. If you want to be more intimate with God, daily quiet time is necessary.

How to come to QT?

  1. Preparation Prepare your heart by calming your mind and focusing on God. Pray, ask God to open your spiritual eyes and see or hear God’s guidance (Psalm 119:18).

  2. Reading Read the scripture 2-3 times. First, read and understand the overall meaning; even familiar scriptures should be read like the first time you read them. Next, pay attention to the verses that the Holy Spirit reminds you to pay attention to (Psalm 119:34).

  3. Meditate Meditate on the verses that impressed you (Psalm 119:97). Reflect on what these verses are saying to you and why they are saying to you. Record your thoughts. Use the "reflection" part to help you meditate on the entire passage, and provide the use of the "reflection" part as a supplement to help you meditate on the text and provide spiritual insight.

  4. Application Turn thought into action (Psalm 119:9). No matter what God shows to you, you must obey it (1 Samuel 15:22). It may be a call to repentance, it may be an encouragement, or even your future guidance. The application needs to be specific; broad generalizations such as "love your neighbor as yourself" are difficult to apply. The key points of the summarized application can help you take specific actions based on what you read.

  5. Pray Pray and ask God for wisdom and courage to follow the message He has given you. Entrust a new day to Him and ask His will to be fulfilled through your life (1 Peter 5:7; Mark 14:36).

  6. Share Share what you have learned with others to glorify God (Jeremiah 1:9). Learn how God speaks to others through the same scriptures (Jeremiah 1:9). Encourage each other (Hebrews 10:24-25).
